Re: Swing
Hi. I am a player. I am I line drive, contact hitter. I was wondering about how to fix this problem I'm having in my swing. I stride, cock my bat and feel ready. When the ball is on the way for some reason I try to take it back to get some more power. Some people call this a "hitch". This causes me to hit lots of pop ups and soft grounders in the cage. How can I fix this? Also what are some drills I can do for this? I am open to any openions. Thanks
Ryan, best way to fix is back to.....the batting tee. Have a coach, etc. work with you on this. Take your stance and get your hands up/back. Have coach should hold a bat/broomstick up against your bat. Now hit the ball. The coach bat should exert just enough pressure so that you can't wrap the bat but not so much that he forces the swing in any direction. A small hitch ( keyword:small) won't kill but it should never(another keyword)reach or get behind your batting helmet. If your hand position in your stance is correct, you already have enough wrist cock to maintain power. And that is the important sentence here because the wrists/arms only maintain and transfer the power from your larger muscles ( hips/legs/back).
What,no one to help with this. Then practice dry swings in front of a mirror. Repetition (last keyword).
