Batting Average

What has been your experience or your child's since switching. Is his average up or down? Is it harder to hit the outside pitch with rotational mechanics? It seems to me that in linear mechanics you bring the bat to where you think the ball is going to be. Which would seem to be harder with rotational mechanics. Am I right or wrong?
