Re: Your Stance?

hey i'm jimmy. i need some advice about a new batting stance i've been working with. in the stance i have my feet shoulder witdth apart. my feet parallel. which means thier not open and not closed they're just sraight. as for my hands and arms, i lay the bat on my shoulder. so basically i have the bat and hands, not on an angle, but straight so it would be at a 180 degree angle. i've been taking some swings with this stance in front of a mirror and it looks and feel much smoother and natural that my old one. plus it looks like more of a line drive swing now.

Jimmy,

I need more information. Do you stride?

You say your bat is resting on your shoulder. Do you swing from that position directly to the ball?

I am confused about the 180 degrees. Here is how I use degrees in explaining bat position. Assume you are facing the batter straight on like you were standing on the other side of the plate from him. Also assume that the bat is a radius of a circle and the grip end of the bat is the center. A line going straight out to the pitcher parallel to the ground would be zero degrees. If the bat were pointing straight up it would be at 90 degrees. If the bal were parallel to the the ground pointing away from the pitcher, that would be 180 degrees. Is that what you mean?

Joe A.
