Hitting: Less is More?

Posted by: Joe () on Wed Sep 24 19:05:20 2003

When i used to hit off the tee, i'd take a very aggressive hack and i'd pull the ball completely foul or hit it in some weak part of the bat. Even though i tried to practice perfect mechanics, the results were not the same...

Then today, i just told myself to take controlled swings without putting 100% effort into it. And somehow i actually made better contact.

Does anyone find any truth in this and how does this relate to batting in general?
