>>> Jack,
could you share your thoughts after viewing the 60 min video with Arod? I look forward to hearing your comments and video comparisons. <<<

Hi Erik

It never ceases to amaze me how different the mechanics that many great hitter exhibit in their game swings from the mechanics they preach. In the CBS clip, A-Rod’s game swing exhibited all the principles we find in all high level swings (PHT,THT,CHP and BHT). However, when asked to demonstrate the important principles of how to attain a good swing, he demonstrated the old linear principles taught by most high school coaches.

During his demonstration, he stated that the batter should “keep the hands in tight” and “take them ‘across’ the body straight to the ball.” This is the old linear mechanic that accelerates the knob while leaving bat-head statically trailing behind – just the opposite from the type of mechanics he exhibits in the game to attain early acceleration of the bat-head.

Note: To see the A-Rod clip – google “60 min” – select CBS link – scroll down to Dec. 17 A-Rod link – his training clip is in that link.
