I've been told to shorten my swing so I can get around on a D-1 Fastball. How can I do this and what does it mean? I have a lot of power but often do not make contact. I have to put the ball in play more to increase my playing time.

I would avoid the fence drills at all cost. They promote disconnection. I've yet to see any good players game swing that could be executed next to a fence.
