Hi Brad

If a fence was placed at the plate (as in the “fence drill”), and you fed “Dusty Baker, Ken griffey Jr,Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Jose Canseco, Willie Mays.....” balls all day long, not one of them could hit a fair ball anywhere near the outfield fence. --- Try it for yourself. You will find that little bat speed can be generated until the bat is arcing toward the third base dugout (right handed batter). The “fence drill” promotes a straight hand-path until the hands have passed the body. Then they will arc over toward third base as the bat-head comes through (and very late I might add).
