Is there any difference from the hitter's point of view in "waiting" for a change-up vs. a curve. Assuming the hitter recognizes what is coming and is able to delay his rotation, I would guess it is just a matter of getting the bathead on the ball at the proper time.

The best way I have found to overcome this problem is simple. take all the offspeed stuff to the right side of the field. most pitchers are going to set you up like this, hard inside, offspeed stuff away. when you recognize the offspeed pitch, get your hands through the same way you always do but drop the bathead and drive the ball to right.
