front foot - in the bucket

Posted by: blue (sburford@mfvexpo.com) on Tue Mar 5 13:53:50 2002

The last three softball games i have played, my consistent hard liners to left field went to not solid-hit grounders to short stop. I could not figure out why all of sudden my consistent hard shots had left me. I finally figured it out. My front foot was starting to point to the pitcher when i was bringing it down, and i was starting to step in the bucket, hence, my hips were not in position to generate their needed power and my eyes were getting pulled away from the ball . Now i think of pointing my toe to homeplate, and my hips are square to the plate and my eyes are focused on the ball and best of all, my hardliners to left field are back. Has anyone else run into this bad habit with the left foot or stepping into the bucket?
