Will "rotational" allow for?

Posted by: CoachJ () on Sun Jan 13 17:17:59 2002

Haven't posted for quite some time, but still visit here quite regularly. Even though I don't think I truly understand everything that's discussed here, I think I have a "basic" understanding.

My beliefs have always been that the bat head should remain in the same plane as the incoming ball(through contact zone) for as long as possible.

My questions are these.

1. Would a purely rotational hitter be able to allow for this, or would his swing plane go "in and out" of the contact zone too quickly?

2. Wouldn't he need "some" linear movement with his weight shift? (don't "squish the bug"; get up on the back toe?)

Did I make any sense? Please clarify if I did.
