> I am right handed batter and I can't seem to hit the ball anywhere but directly down the left field line. Now this is great in my first couple at bats of a game, but the other team eventually gets the hint and plays me right down the line and I end up hitting it right to either the left fielder or the 3rd baseman. Where exactly do I need to position myself in order to hit the ball anywhere other than left field? I am so frustrated!

1. Perhaps the easiest adjustment is to move away from the plate. This will give you more space to hit the ball. If they pitch you away you can step in the direction of the ball with your stride foot in order to make up the difference.

2. You can practice waiting longer to swing. The important thing is to take a full swing even though you may get jammed. This will allow you to fight off pitches some of which will fall for hits.

3. Another trick assuming this is slowpitch softball is to walk to the left slightly while the ball is in the air and let the ball get almost equal to you or almost behind you and then swing. This will allow you to hit to right or you might foul the ball away which may warrant the defense to shift over so you can assume your normal hitting.

4. Do not lose your pull stroke if you hit the ball hard. Being able to pull the ball is a good skill. Hitting the ball hard is one of the most beneficial tools.
