We are having a hard time getting rid of a loop in his swing, basically the hands drop a bit and alot of times swinging a little up on the ball at impact. He does not do it off the tee, only live hitting. We have tried starting hands high, hands low and going up on the load, still has a tendency to do it. Any good drills anyone has would be appreciated

> My best guess is that it is a result of the rear elbow beating the hands to the race of getting to the ribs. The reason it loses the race is a lack of lead shoulder rotation that keeps pulling the bottom hand forward ,maybe jack can post an old clip of this flaw that also is a type of disconnection and then you can film your hitter from the side and see if you see the same thing going on.

rql,

I respectfully disagree. The pulling hard of the lead shoulder is what causes the loop/dump of the barrel. Because the top hand is no longer in control/ top hand has no idea where the barrel is going. Pulling the knob out from under the barrel causes it to fall into a long loopy swing.

I would suggest keeping the hands in the armpit area. Get the lead elbow up while applying THT. The lead elbow working up helps keep the hands up. Focus on keeping the rear forearm vertical, don't let it drop horizontal to the ground.
