Based on the natural arc of the swing, if your daughter is fouling pitches back or is missing underneath the ball that probably means that she trying to hit the ball at a point when it's too deep into the strike zone to square up on. I'd suggest having her hit off of a tee set at a point a little bit out in front of her front foot, that way she'll get use to hitting the ball squarely at the ideal point of contact.

Ted Williams describes it simply, when you're early you'll hit the ball on the ground, and when you're late you'll hit the ball in the air.
