Graylon, I'm not saying wait to do anything.
The pitch takes aproximately 4/10, to a half second, to reach home plate. The batter begins recognition at about one third of the way to home plate. That's why guys get fooled. The batter picks the pitch up in that small window of time, tenths of a second after ball release.
You keep saying the swing plane is determined by the hands.
And, again, whatever degree of plane that is reached, it's being reached as a unit,ie. hands, arms, shoulders.
I can't imagine how a batter could get on the plane of the pitch primarily with the hands and, not be synked with the rest of the upper torso? They'd be out of sync?
