Back Elbow

Posted by: Joe C. (jcit31@aol.com) on Sun Jan 7 14:46:38 2001

Hi. Jack, what is the correct position (if there is one) of the back elbow in the stance? My coach (a former minor leaguer) says it should not be elevated even slightly and that the middle knuckles should line up together, because if it is elevated, it will cause an "uppercut" in the swing, and possibly cause a looping swing. But I feel that the slightly elevated back elbow helps me add more torque to the bat, plus it is more comfortable. What are your thoughts on the subject?
Thanks,
Joe C.
