Re: loading up

I have noticed that some batters are in the load up position from the get go.My question is.Is there a problem with starting out in the loaded position? And I have a 9 year old who seems not to be able to lift the from leg and get it to work.He just keeps it planted.Any insight would be great!!

>Might be a blessing. Get his feet fairly wide. Have him bend at the knees (the athletic position). Now get him to bend at the waist( over over the plate ) but maintain balance...butt out /chest out. In the beginning exaggerate the spine angle( waist bend).

Give him a frisbie and put it in his bottom hand. Place the frisbee behind the point of the rear shoulder with a bend lead elbow (to 90 degrees). You must bend at the waist to unbend as you lift rotate. You will have to help him remember to get into this posture eash time is he is 9.

Throw the frisbee as you lift out of the bend and rotate the heck out of your hips. You will be surprised that from a side view you will not notice the lift...you will just see the rotation and the rear heel come up. Don't force it up ;it will come up from the front side firm a pull through. Don't lean forward or pull forward. Straighten and rotate. The head will go away from the pitcher as you tilt the finish

The point...launching with a bent lead elbow. Getting enough spine angle to "get out of the chair" to initiate a good rotation with the lead thigh and torso. To be able to work the strike zone from the bottom up and NOT try to go down to a ball as you try to get off a good swing.Little kids stand stright up and throw their top hand at the ball because DADs throw loopy pitches. Sometimes I think that if we threw more frisbees and hit less loopy pitched they would hit better later
