Re: Off Season Training

Hi, I've been coming to this website for a couple years but have never really trained in the off-season. Now that I'm in high school, I want to improve my swing and bat speed during the off-season. My question is if anyone has any good training tips for what to work on,how to work on it, and how long to work on it. Thank you.

I have a swing away in my basement and I take 100 to 200 swings a day. A tee with a net is fine or if you don't have much room just make a heavy bag or buy one and set it up somewhere to work on your mechanics. Once you do that for a long period of time then add the soft toss drill in, you should be in for a surprise when you start to take BP and get closer to the season. Some days I have taken as many as 800 swings, sometimes when I'm bored I'll just go down there and take 50. The most important thing is focusing on the right mechanics.
