The easiest cue for a 9 year old to understand might be to simply stress "palm up, palm down" at contact, but it's hard to say for sure without seeing the entire swing. I have seen this cue work very well as a reminder for kids that are solid rotational hitters, but sometimes roll too early when they don't work the front elbow up enough.
