Re: Does strength produce batspeed?

I was wondering why baseball players would feel the need to take steroids. By taking them and becoming stronger would that make them swing faster? Or would the added strength backup the speed they already have with more power? Basically what I am asking is batspeed the only thing that determines how far a ball will go and do steroids improve batspeed?

Black Hole Lexciographer is not going to like this, but yes, there is a relationship....given same mechanics, pitch, etc, stronger guy will hit ball farther...mlb players seem to be aware of this, given the emphasis on weight training, and in the more extreme, andro, steroids, etc.....
