i recently noticed yet another definition of the term, and i suspect that what hudgens said recetly on his site is what many coaches mean by this term...he said that the term means to literally strive to hit the inside part of the ball and that this will result in a "short swing"....

Where you hit the ball is irrelevant to the cue "hit the inside of the ball". Where you try to hit it is everything.

As compared to "trying" to hit the outside of the ball which is a major flaw in many amateur swings.
