Good for golf - Good for baseball ??
Hi All
During the past few threads we have had good discussions regarding lower-body mechanics with emphasis on the actions of the lead-foot. References to the golf swing has been raised inferring that what works in the golf swing should apply to the baseball swing as well.
Much was made of the fact that many baseball hitters have their lead-toe flying up and they rotated on their heel later in the swing. I do not recall ever seeing this occur in the golf swing. Their lead-foot remains fairly closed and flat (the ankle may slightly roll over) through contact. If we take the position that what is right for golf must be right for baseball, then the reverse should also be true. What is good for baseball should also be good for golf.
I thought it might be interesting to discuss if the golf swing would be improved by having the lead-toe come flying up and rotate on heel. Or, are there similarities in the two swings but actually two different animals.
P.S. I can’t help but wonder what the thoughts of a foursome would be if one of the players addressed the ball with Bagwell’s stance.
