Re: Re: Re: Swinging a Heavier Bat to Increase Bat Speed

Hello guys,

From personal experience. Swinging a heavy bat can definitely improve batspeed. When I was 13 I bought a "Keith Hernandez" wood bat. A 36 inch, 37 ounce. By the time I was a senior in high school, I used in batting cages and at the school cage @75 mph until it finally split in 3.

The main problem was not my mechanics, it was timing. It is hard to go from a 37 ounce bat to a 32 ouncer. You have to practice with both. All that extra bat speed is wasted if your timing is off.

I also noticed a huge drop in batspeed / power from a 3 year absence in golfing. Which would be similar to swinging a very light bat. SO I BELIEVE THE PROGRAM LISTED BELOW PROBABLY WILL WORK FOR YOU. >>>But I would concentrate on hitting balls very hard against a pitching machine or BP vs. just swinging them<<< You notice many people in baseball and golf have PERFECT form and incredible power in their practice swings, yet, when they step up to the plate/tee they look pretty average.

So I would use that guys program vs. some form of "live" pitching.

I would look at either finding a bat that is one to two ounces heavier or using lead tape on your bat to increase the wieght would also work.
