I believe there are players with good mechanics at the professional level in all sports, but the majority of the players succeed in spite of their technique because of overwhelming athletic ability and coordination.


So we have the best pitchers trying to beat the best hitters and they are all the best athletes. I really don't think the cream rises to the top without athleticism AND mechanics AND mental discipline. It's the nature of competition. The athletes with good ability AND good mechanics will crowd out the great atletes with poor mechanics. If we look for the common features in the best hitters in the world, that HAS to be a good idea.









I believe some of those players have swings that work for them but not for all athletes who play the sport. that is why a young kid who tries to swing with as much bat speed as a Bonds may not have the same results or perhaps they will have simialr results. It could really go either way.
