SO it does not matter if you let go of it or not because the ball is off the bat at the point of contact. That is why some hitters do or do not it's just a comfort or psychological thing. If I rake and don't let go of the top hand I'm still going to rake weather I let go of it or not. The top hand goes along for the ride any ways the lead shoulder is your power hand if anything.

> HUH?!?! by definition the power hand makes the greatest power..that's why it is called the power hand as opposed to your lesser or weaker hand.. are you so strong you can afford to diminish the power your power hand generates? logically speaking, if you can do that you must be so good you must already be in MLB... not. not with that mentality... you are telling me the weak is the strong & the strong is of no importance.. i can tell by this conversation you are having some serious problems with your hitting.
I have studied many major league swings on our swing analysis software. I have never seen one case where the top hand released the bat prior to or at contact. Those who release do so 5 to 8 video frames PAST contact. Now, we did have couple of middle school fastpitch girls this year who released at contact. As soon as we changed that habit, their bats immediately stopped bouncing off the ball!
As for top hand dominance… Power comes from energy transfer through BOTH hands. That’s what opposing hand torque is all about (THT & BHT).
We work very hard with all our players to bring the bottom hand/lead arm into the equation. In our program, lead arm strength conditioning and correct bottom hand mechanics are one of the focus points in the training of our hitters. There was a time in years past when we did not stress this aspect of the swing. As we learned more we began to do a better job of breaking the swing down and putting in effective drills that have created very positive results.
