If this was the case then why do we have so many 50hr, 60hr and 70hr players now????? Now do not contractict yourself. How many pitchers threw 95MPH prior to 1985 (most Hall of famers were playing before this year)???? Are you saying if the hitting has not changed then the only difference is that the pitchers are worse today. IMHO the batters are better today because they have evolved. If you compare the batting style of Babe Ruth, Maris or Mantle to Sosa, Bonds or Thome the swings are not the same. If you could time lapse some swings that would be great so we can see them together.

On the first tape in Mike's set he does comparisons of great hitters from yesterday and today. Keep in mind the size and strength training including chemical enhancements of today as well as the availability of video. Jack, Tom and others certainly study a lot of video, perhaps they will weigh in on this question, but I don't see any mechanical changes in the great ones over the years.
