The linear momentum, or kinetic energy, is believed to be converted into bat speed as the hands reach full extension and slows down. – This theory has been discredited.

The axis of rotation (basically the spine) is not vertical for most batters. It is slightly tilted away from the pitcher. > Personaly I like to think of a back to center shift.In this set up my inward turn takes my weight over the inside of the back thigh.I stride short ,actually no stride anymore but the rear knee drive forward seems to center up my weightas my hips rotate.In the no stride stance I could lift my front leg and not fall down however at end of follow thru lifting either leg would make me collapse since they each support equally from 2 directions.Jack,to me walking away from the hands seems like a rotation cue though walking away from upper body is better to me,this keeps the weight back so it can turn on the axis IMO.When I was a linear hitter my whole body came forward with the stride creating momentum for the arms to follow straight to the ball,how do you feel on this.
