Seems to make sense, but ive always noticed when i follow through i give the ball much more power, as opposed to a sort of "check swing."

I also beleive the following through is a method of keeping the proper mechanics. I mean by that if you follow all the way through you can be sure you're not going to stop swinging before the ball hits the bat. Its very possible that many swingers who aren't "following through" stop applying pressure before the ball even comes into contact with the bat. Sort of how the head often appears to pull out, when in actuality its just because the ball has aleady made contact with the ball and the shouldars are pushing it out. It all happens so fast, and you don't really want to short-change yourself.

If you did apply extra pressure during contact and a bit afterwards, whats the problem, besides the fact that you might be a few 1/100s of a second shorter to first?
