Scott, it sounds like what my oldest was doing last year. The first half of his swing looked good rotationally, but then his lead shoulder rotation would stop and his hands would run linear out to the ball. This would totally change the swing plane of the bat and caused him to roll over a lot. Started getting a lot of foul balls and ground outs.

This year his swing is much improved and so are the results. Started having him focus on letting that lead elbow work up and around his body and pulling back at contact. If he let that lead elbow work down or straight, his hands wanted to run linear. This simple adjustment was huge for him.

I have also been making this adjustment with my youngest sons team with very good results. Make one adjustment at a time and things will really start to fall into place as one thing can effect multiple others.
