i have a question, i've noticed if i stop my lead hand at contact and push with my top hand it seems to give me more power , why is this

Sounds to me you're learning about the "whip effect" of the swing. If the hands stop the bat whips around. Not necessarily a rotational hitting mechanic but that is probably what you're experiencing.
