I have a couple of true power hitting H.S.players that have trouble with chasing high pitches and have a low posture set early that breaks down the 90degree posture/bat angle.They either miss or hit the ball straight up on balls belly to letter high.I have 1st tried to get them to set their axis more for a belt high fb to raise their sights a little since they were looking knee high so to speak.Then I have taken and put 2 tires on top of each other on a pole.the low tire sets you for the low to belt high pitch and gets you working on that pitch,but then you imagine a middle pitch and then read an imaginary pitch high[belly to letter]and they learn to adjust their posture mid read as they begin their swing and finish off swinging 90 degrees to spine,which gives them the feel of getting on top of or up with the pitch.I teach swinging at belly down pitches but if I can create the correct muscle memory on how to react when you read high and can't lay off then I think were a little better in the long run.It also helps them understand how posture relates to the swing when going from 1 tire to the other.rql
