Jack Mankin. Thanks for the comparisons in the video. It's amazing how much in common to great hitters have. With Alex I noticed his load from the leg lift seemed to result in a tighter coil at initiation. So I would figure the higher the kick the greater the load which I would think would help his bat sppeed once begun.

As to why Alex uses somewhat of a reduced kick it could have more emphasis that he was not getting it down on time enough to reach the consistency he desired. I think you might have eluded to that in the past or someone had a post up awhile back in which his front foot was moving forward more then that it is now.

With Barry I think he has probably the most confidence going right now so he is probably less likely to use as much of a leg load and because of his exceptional quickness he can afford to let the ball get in on him more and just react though currently I think he is in somewhat of a slump. Maybe he is not picking up the ball quick enough as I see him fouling pitches off he usually hits. I did notice on a post of video that his swing has a lot in common with Ruth's and Ruth did not use a leg lift.
