If in fact the hip cock is an essential early phase of the swing as described by Williams,then others should notice it.Charley Lau Jr,Lau's Laws,pp61-2:

Hi Tom,

I've been reading your dialog, Lau (Lau's) only see's and explains legs and arms, Ted tries to convey the internal work.

Ted says very little and yet so much, Lau's say too much and yet very little (or it makes it very little after saying to much).

Ted was very quick, bang, bang. Not to much time spent over the back leg, and definitely not behind. Griffey is very quick, different style.

The question isn't neccessarily how and what, but why? What are the underlying factors, perhaps some - how - Anyone can do the movements.
