Re: TOP HAND rolling over

Posted by: popeyem () on Thu Dec 12 13:28:29 2002

O.K., I am confused a bit. The top hand takes the barrell back to the catcher and the lead shoulder "pulls" and at contact the shoulders have rotated to at least 90 degrees and still rotating; the lead arm is still firm and connected and the top hand is bent at the "L". Is that even close to being right?

But let's say you are too early - - and you do not make contact at exactly perpendicular on a pitch right down the middle; what I see a lot of my players do is the top hand starts to roll over as they are between the "L" and the "V" and their finish/deceleration phase is all with the top hand as started by the tht in the first place by taking the bat head back to the catcher. Is this right or not? It looks like to much top hand even though the bottom hand is working and connected.

Also, at contact - - is their a "rabbit punch" with the top hand or not?

What is the best remedy for a hitter who finds himself a little bit early; I'm talking about in the middle of that swing you see/feel you are a little early, what do you do -- keep rotating roll over it if it is an outside pitch or hit it foul if it is in or can you give a little "rabbit punch" with the top hand?
