BHL,

This is an individual thing. It's not as if you can't generate any power with a flexed front knee, you can. Perhaps Mac can hit the ball even harder with an extended front leg, but he may be more accurate with it slightly flexed. The bottom line is results- what works consistently for the individual hitter.

I also think it's important to remember that a hitter's mechanics will often be in a less than picture-perfect state even on well-hit balls due to the very reactive nature of hitting in game situations.
