Not good. Your son's stride direction should be happening before recognition of pitch location. His stride direction should stay square to the plate and pitcher on every pitch to develop consistent balance and plate coverage.

Since your son does not stride, his feet should be even in his set-up and stay even through the swing.

No sideways stride! This will cause terrible habits that will expose him to better pitching in the next few years.
