Re: Appreciate your web site

>>>I just discovered your website and I appreciate the information you are passing along, especially the truisms and fallacies.

My son is 12 1/2 and he has an excellent batting eye. The problem is his lack of power. He got hot for 3 weeks at the end of last season and crushed the ball, but the streak came and went. What would you reccomend as far as training and tools (practice bag, swingmate, video, etc.) to start preparing him for the next season in February? I want to prepare him for high school in 1 1/2 years, but I am at a loss for the correct training/conditioning program to maximize his potential.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks again.<<<

Hi Allan,

Welcome to the site. Depending on your son's current swing mechanics, it could take time to develop a powerful rotational swing. Now is a good time to start preparing for next year. The effort you put into better mechanics will be worth your time because the good hitters of today use similar rotational mechanics, though they all may have slightly different styles. As your son progresses into higher leagues with better pitching and regulation weight bats, he will have to develop and/or enhance solid rotational swing mechanics by applying torque and a circular hand path.

Regarding products/training aids, the new instructional video (The Final Arc II) provides a complete program to develop rotational mechanics along with a field manual that you can take to the park with you for reference. (It should be available on Dec. 2). Once you learn rotational mechanics and begin practicing the drills with your son, you can send us a video of your son's swing for Swing Review Analysis. Jack Mankin will then break it down into frame-by-frame motion and tell you the strong and weak points of his swing, as well as points where he can make improvements. The heavy bag was used throughout the new video and is a useful aid (see the products page for additional information). The SwingMate radar is a very accurate device (within 1 mph) and will provide feedback on your progress of developing new swing mechanics (whether you're working on your golf or baseball swing).
