I think you have made a valid and underrated point. I will go so far as to say that I believe a Barry Bonds very much controls the arc of his bat with his top hand. Control of the bat with the bottom hand is what a golfer does to swing a golf club. While you can get bat speed this way, it occurs out in front and late.
