An uppercut is a negative if you are having trouble making contact. You need to swing into the plane of the pitch.

How much have you read from this site? Are you keeping your hands back and rotating your hips, shoulders and body to initiate bat movement and the swing? If you are using your arms, you are tensing up some muscles that can aid in fine tuning the position of the bat if they are kept loose but not if they are tight.

Another factor is your head. Are you moving your head when you swing? That will cause you to have trouble making contact. Focus on keeping it steady while you swing.
