Hi Mike

How high the bat finishes during the follow-through depends on the height of the pitch. The lower the pitch, the higher the finish. When swinging at a pitch up at the letters, the swing plane is close to level with the ground. Therefore the bat finishes much lower than it would with a pitch at the knees.
