In conclusion(?), maximizing the kinetic energy of the bat at the point of contact with the ball does not necessarily maximize the velocity of the ball coming off the bat.

It seems that picking a quality bat with the heaviest weight that can be swung with loss but insignificant loss of bat speed is the point sought for maximizing the velocity of the ball coming off the bat.

Additionally, I know for certain that the quality of the bat makes a huge difference in my son's effectiveness at the plate. Bat "quality" being the ability of the bat to transfer more of the energy of the swing into the ball.

This falls on the exact line with the instructions that come with the Swing Speed Radar sold on Jack's site for picking the optimum bat weight.
