This is a very important point and is the same reason why pitchers with longer arms (all other things being equal) have an advantage over shorter pitchers. Their hand is in contact with the ball longer which allows them to transfer kinetic energy to the ball for a longer period of time before release, resulting in higher pitching speeds.

That's why PLT and THT are so very important.
