DISTANCE FROM THE PLATE

Posted by: LARRY BRIODY (LJBRIODY1@AOL.COM) on Sun Apr 2 16:43:05 2000

Ihave converted my girl from weight transfer to rotational but i never thought about her distance from the plate. When she was a weight transfer hitter she could reach the outside pitch from a distance well off the plate. When she converted over I didn't think to move her closer(4-5")to the plate. She was making contact but was hitting a lot of grounders.I had her move closer and she is back to hitting liners no matter where the location of the pitch. Why does the distance from the plate make a difference from one method of hitting to the other as it seems to in this case?
