Hi Scott

Once a player enters the batters box the increased stress of being there make them revert back to old habits. 'Just hit the ball' is in their mind instead of taking the practiced swing.

A lot of the time the players are not concentrating on the release point of the pitcher and therefor do not see the ball properly. Some drills where they learn to concentrate on the release point and learn to make adjustments to the different pitches also help.
