This excerpt makes no sense because there is no such a thing as disobeying the law of conservation of angular momentum. That's impossible. The law of conservation of angular momentum ALWAYS holds.

What we can learn from understanding the conservation of angular momentum is how to employ it to our advantage. For example, rapidly decreasing the radius of the instantaneous circular path the center of mass the bat is traveling on will simultaneously increase bat head speed.
