IMO your lead elbow is working down instead of up. When lead elbow works down, it forces top hand to roll before contact which results in barrel rolling over and on top of ball. You said that hitting the ball hard and down is good baseball. Well, maybe in tee ball, but as you progress in this game more and more of those ground balls will be fielded for outs. Learn to match the plane of the swing to the plane of the pitch. Learn as much about rotational mechanics as you possibly can. Most of the posters on this site are very knowledgeable and willing to share their valuable info with you. You should go back and read as many posts as you possibly can. Jack and Mike have opened a lot of eyes.
