rql....when you played, what specifically was the AVERAGE distance of the stride foot from the plate AFTER the stride foot had landed?....1 foot, 14 or 15 inches, less than one foot?....

>GRC,I never thought of encroaching or not on their turf,The plate was theirs the box was mine,I was probably 14-15 inches away just because I felt comfortable about keeping a ball on the corner fair there and not getting jammed.The CWS this week has Buck showalter commentating and he has mentioned this subject since a few have been hit on the elbow on pitches out over the plate.The alum. bat allows more jammed hits than a wood bat inside and the pro umps would call things different according to him.
