should a hitter be completely balanced after follow thru (be able to hold for a second or 2.?

Is he "casting" the bat? In golf this is the classic over the top swing where the hands coming through the hitting zone get too far from the body and come from the outside in. Try the fence drill - Many baseball schools teach this concept). Stand facing a fence. Distance is one bat length. Take batting stance. A good swing should be able to miss the fence. This drill keeps hands close to body and wrists stay cocked as long as possible. Use an old bat. Casting can be caused by poor hand positon ie. going being the back. Poor posture, etc.

And yes at least my opinion a good swing is completely balanced from start to finish.
