Re: hitting to many ground balls

I would suggest making sure that he isn;t rolling his wrists at contact, which could be the result of him not opening his hips and, just just swinging with his arms. In that instance his wrists roll over at contact to compensate for the closed hips. Secondlt, as simple as it may sound, he's either swinging down or, if he's not, might have such an upper cut, that he's topping the ball. The bottom line, just try to get his bat level with the plane of the ball, not level to the ground, and keep the elbow of his top hand , tucked close to his body as he brings the bat through. There's a bit more to it than that but, give it a try.
John.
