Re: Back Leg 'L'

Posted by: Chris O'Leary (chris@chrisoleary.com) on Tue Jun 12 18:30:17 2007

"With all this said, his back leg does not 'drive' creating the 'L' shape that you are looking for....he pivots the back leg but it is straight and he is standing upright (more or less) when he swings. I am curious if you have any ideas (drills) on training this 'L' back leg drive when launching to the ball."

The best hitters DO NOT drive off of their back leg. Instead, they are pulled onto their back toe by the rotation of their hips.

IOW, the "L" is the EFFECT of a powerful swing rather than its CAUSE.

To get the L, you have to get him driving from his hips, rather than from hips shoulders or feet.
