Re: Re: Back Leg 'L'

> Hi. It is my opinion that the back leg doesn't drive at all. Why would it? If the batter decides to swing, the hips simply open up as a result of the heel landing. Thats's it. I've never heard of back leg drive.

All,

The rear leg must come to the L position in order for the rear hip to rotate around. Both legs are the drive behind the rotation. For a body to rotate, two forces must act about an axis. Therefore since the hips are in connection with the legs, the legs have to apply force, front leg in one direction, back leg in the opposite direction, in order for the hips to rotate.
Both legs apply EQUAL force but in OPPOSITE direction. Front leg pushes BACK, rear leg Forward. This is how the hips will rotate open.
